A little story about how Sylva Heart came to be…

Sylva – a lovely Old English word with Latin origin meaning ‘wood’ or ‘forest’.

Trees make the best teachers. I know that now, having spent lots of time around them and with them.

To learn about the miracles of nature, you need to spend time with it, observe it and return to it.

I want to share the joy of learning about trees & nature with everyone.

I was overjoyed when given the opportunity to manage an Oak woodland in my hometown. The landowner (very cool community-focused guy) listened carefully to my vision, one where the woodland had people in it, appreciating it, learning about it, caring for it, & ultimately connecting with it.

‘Around me the trees stir in their leaves and call out “Stay awhile”.’
